A minibus pulls up between a pile of rocks, an industrial site and some rundown, graffitied buildings in Ras al Khaimah. Out of the bus streams an unlikely parade of people clutching cameras, sketchbooks and bottles of water: five girls in abayas and everyone else in jeans, baseball caps and trainers or walking boots. This is not some strange derelict-town tourism, but Jalal’s Art Trip, an initiative to encourage emerging artists to pursue their art with more dedication and confidence.
